Thanks for posting. I too have about one-year of climbing experience, and, I often get caught up with improving my grade. Your story reminds me (and others, I'm sure) that progressing too quickly is potentially dangerous. Similar to how we double-check our anchors, maybe we need to also double-check our egos.

Cheers and wish you a strong recovery.

Close one, huh? I had a similar, but maybe not as serious experience about a year ago. I was playing rugby and got a concussion. I lost memory of about 15 minutes on either side of the event. I went to the ER and had a CT scan on my brain, and it was uncomfortably inconclusive. I sat around for another 5 hours for another CT to see if my brain was hemorrhaging and whether I needed immediate surgery. Turns out my head was fine, but those 5 hours were really not fun.

I hope all is better or at least getting there.

Ryan,
Well, after getting my heart out of my throat and wiping away some tears I guess I would have to say, "Whew"! Stay confident, look at all the possibilities but never bet the store. A sure thing is remembering who you are and how you got where you are at a given moment. There are a lot of roads on the map.
